K\u00e1rp\u00e1talja; ukrain. Sakarpatija) liegt im S\u00fcdwesten der Ukraine zwischen den Karpaten und der ungarischen Grenze. Gelegentlich wird diese Region auch als Transkarpatien oder Karpato-Ukraine bezeichnet.<\/li><li>Gebietshauptstadt ist Ungv\u00e1r\/Ushgorod nahe der slowakischen Grenze.<br \/>In den Unterkarpaten befindet sich der Mittelpunkt Europas.<\/li><li>Gr\u00f6\u00dfter Fluss ist die Tisza (Theiss), die in den Karpaten entspringt und weiter nach Ungarn flie\u00dft.<\/li><li>Fl\u00e4che der Unterkarpaten 12.900 qkm (Sachsen: 18.300 qkm) \u2013 also knapp 3\/4 so gro\u00df wie der Freistaat Sachsen<\/li><li>Einwohner ca. 1,3 Mio. (2014) &#8211; vgl. Sachsen ca. 4,1 Mio. EW (2018)<\/li><li>Der Anteil Ungarn an der Bev\u00f6lkerung der Unterkarpaten betr\u00e4gt\u00a0ca. 10 %.<\/li><li>Die g\u00e4ngigsten Sprachen sind Ungarisch, Russisch und Ukrainisch, wobei der Gebrauch der Minderheitensprachen durch den Staat zumindest in der \u00d6ffentlichkeit eingeschr\u00e4nkt wird. Besonders unter der jungen Bev\u00f6lkerung gibt es zunehmend Englisch- und Deutschkenntnisse.<\/li><li>Vom fr\u00fcher bedeutenden Anteil j\u00fcdischer Bev\u00f6lkerung ist so gut wie nichts mehr
